Lead is one of the parameters that is the subject of a standard in the Regulation respecting the quality of drinking water. The main sources of lead in water are the lead-containing plumbing fixtures (service entrance, valves, welds, etc.) used in buildings to carry water to the user’s taps.

For this reason, the Municipality of Ormstown, which is responsible for the water distribution system, must, for lead control purposes, take tap samples from single-family dwellings or small buildings with less than eight dwellings.

If you are in doubt about the use of lead in your plumbing system, you may be eligible for home sampling.

For more information regarding this sampling, you can contact Guy Dandurand, Head of the Environmental Hygiene Department by email at eau@ormstown.ca.
